1. Scope and legal framework
This Policy applies to account holders, customers, agents, sellers, tutors, operators, administrators and visitors. It is designed with reference to Cameroon Law No. 2024/017 of 23 December 2024 relating to personal-data protection and other applicable rules. Final deployment must be reviewed for any registration, authorisation or notice obligations.
2. Data collected
We may collect names, phone numbers, email addresses, passwords in hashed form, addresses, profile photographs, identity or business-verification documents, provider biographies, listings, orders, bookings, course activity, messages, reviews, reports, payment references, subscription records, device/browser information, IP addresses, security logs and support communications.
3. Why data is used
Data is used to create and secure accounts; provide requested modules; process supported orders and bookings; connect users with providers; verify and moderate providers; display authorised public profiles; prevent fraud; investigate complaints; maintain records; improve performance; send essential service notices; meet legal obligations; and protect users, MAAR Connect and the public.
4. Public and shared information
Provider names, approved profile pictures, professional contact details, business addresses, biographies, verification status, listings and published reviews may be public. Order, booking or inquiry details are shared only with the providers and personnel reasonably involved. Users should not place unnecessary sensitive information in public descriptions or messages.
5. Payments and external providers
When payment integration is enabled, the selected mobile-money, bank or card provider conducts payment authorisation through its own official channel and under its own privacy terms. MAAR Connect does not request, receive, process or store mobile-money, Orange Money or card PINs. Before validating a payment with the external provider, the customer must verify that the account name displayed by that provider exactly matches the recipient name shown on the MAAR Connect confirmation screen. MAAR Connect may retain the payment reference, transaction status and the customer’s recipient-name confirmation for security, support and audit purposes. Property purchase or rent payments are handled directly between the customer and agent or owner after verification and are not processed by MAAR Connect.
6. Security
MAAR Connect uses access controls, password hashing, session protections, activity records, file restrictions and administrative moderation. No system is risk-free. Users must protect passwords and verification codes, use trusted devices, sign out of shared devices and promptly report suspicious activity.
7. Retention
Information is retained only as reasonably needed for service delivery, account history, disputes, safety, fraud prevention, accounting and legal duties. Retention periods may differ by module. Data may be anonymised or securely deleted when no longer required, subject to lawful preservation duties.
8. User choices and rights
Subject to applicable law, users may request access, correction, restriction, objection, portability where applicable, or deletion of personal data. Some records may be retained where legally required or necessary for unresolved transactions, safety cases or fraud prevention. Requests must be verified to protect the account holder.
9. Children and supervised use
Where a user cannot legally consent alone, a parent, guardian, school or other authorised representative must provide appropriate permission. Providers must not exploit minors or request unnecessary personal information. Safety concerns should be reported immediately.
10. International and service-provider processing
Hosting, email, analytics, maps, communications or payment suppliers may process limited data on MAAR Connect’s instructions or under their own lawful responsibilities. Appropriate contracts and safeguards should be used before production deployment or international transfer.
11. Changes and contact
Material policy changes may require renewed acceptance. Privacy questions and rights requests may be directed to MAAR TECHNOLOGY at +237 670 263 121. Users may also contact the competent data-protection authority or use remedies available under applicable law.
